[Open] October Catch-all
CHARACTERS: Kaidan Alenko and you!
LOCATION: around the station
DATE: October catch-all
CONTENT: Cooking, training with body and biotics, whatever
WARNINGS: probably nothing beyond some light swearing and friendly sparring
Cooking with Kaidan
[On certain times and days, Kaidan decided to go into the kitchen and do some cooking. He looked through the fridge and food storage for ingredients he could work with and put something together. Working out what would taste best for whatever result he had in mind helped keep his brain from spinning around everything that happened on the mission. And the end result was tasty, so that was a plus.
If anyone came by while he was cooking, he would gladly strike up a conversation and offer them some of the food when he was finished]
Training Montague
Years of being in the Alliance drilled it into Kaidan to keep in shape even between missions. This last one especially prompted him to get in more training-- biotic training specifically, but he knew it wouldn't hurt to keep up with his physical prowess as well. If there was no one to spar with in the training room, he would do his own routines. He also did laps around the station.
As for his biotic training, the simulation room seemed like the safest place to do that. He wouldn't have to worry about holding back against simulated enemies. Strengthening his shield was his top priority, but Kaidan worked on his other skills as well while he was in there.
Weird Biology (closed to Newton)
[Kaidan hadn't forgotten his promise to Newton that the man could examine his biology, he sent a thought-text letting him know Kaidan was ready to be examined whenever Newton was. He would have done this regardless, since a xenobiologist was probably the best person to know, but after the mission it seemed especially important that someone on the station knew Kaidan's biology and how the biotics affected him]
Wildcard
[If none of these appeal to you, you may also find Kaidan in other parts of the station. Sometimes in the common living area reading books, sometimes in the sunlight room just enjoying the nature. Or you can poke me on plurk
seraphjewel if you want to plot something! Either actionspam or prose is fine, I'll match style]

Cooking
Ey man, I didn't know you could cook. [ He leaned against the door frame and smiled at Kaidan, as casual as he could be. Peter was leaning on his left side, as his right arm was still in a sling. ] Whatcha doing?
no subject
Yeah, I took classes when I was younger. I thought I might make something and ended up throwing together some stir fry. You're welcome to join me when it's done.
[After a short pause] How's your arm?
no subject
[ That's fine, Peter doesn't expect a handshake. He walks closer to Kaidan, that can speak to him and keep his eyes trained on the food he's making. ]
It gives me some trouble when I lie down to sleep, but otherwise it's healing well, thanks. Did you get hurt during the mission? Everything was a mess in the end, and I lost track of a lot of people.
no subject
[To the question, he shrugs] My barrier took the brunt of the damage, so I got away with minor bruises and a few scrapes. I was pretty lucky. I wish I could've helped more, but it took a lot to keep that building from crashing down on everyone.
no subject
[ The stir fry that Kaidan is cooking smells real nice too and peter gives it a better look, humming in approval. ]
That's a relief . Good tech really saves lives. I'd say that stopped a whole building form falling is helping enough, Kaidan. You did great.
no subject
[That gets him to smile]
Thanks. It was good motivation for me to work on my biotic shield.
no subject
[ Despite Peter's apparent complaint, the fondness in his voice is impossible to mask. So it's the shadow of sadness crossing his face for the brief moment before he can scold his face in a more neutral, and then happier expression. ]
Better to keep those skills sharp. The rest of your teams they also had those bionic powers? I don't remember if I asked you that before.

training
He's thinking of doing some training on his own tonight, hoping the training room will be quiet and mostly empty. Hopefully no one to pester him about getting back into bed. He's somewhat glad to find Kaidan there, though it yet remains to be seen if he'll give him too hard a time about bedrest or if he will be more understanding. Well, he'll see. ]
Hey. Looking for some quiet time too?
no subject
[He's thinking of Vega's mini-gym and how the lieutenant would definitely have those things]
no subject
[ Looking around, the room seems much more designed to fight training, than just practicing or building strength. It does make some sense, though he would argue some cardio and weightlifting would also definitely help, for both the missions and life at the station. ]
We could always spar, [ He offers. ] Or do some yoga exercises. I know some poses.
no subject
[He nods at the suggestions] Yoga is supposed to have a lot of benefits, like improving strength and relieving stress. My friend Thane taught me something similar while we were both in the hospital. Worth a shot.
[Plus they can talk more easily with yoga than sparring]
no subject
Great. Let's start with the easy sitting position. Just sit down and fold your feet under your legs, arms resting on the knees. You can do a gyan mudra with your hands, if you want. It helps your mind focus and relax during meditation.
[ After sitting down, he touches both thumbs to his index fingers while resting the back of his hands on his knees, the rest of his fingers loosely stretched out, so Kaidan can mirror him if he wants to give it a try. ]
Then deep breath in... [ He inhales. ] And out.

weird biology
Tinkering with the motherboard of Viveca's hover-bot — the final touches! — he turns and faces the approaching man with a big dumb grin.]
Hey, dude! Welcome to Casa De Geiszler!
no subject
[He takes a moment to observe all the little projects Newton has going on]
So where do you want to start? You're welcome to run a physical first and then I can show you the biotics.
no subject
[He moves to sit down on the nearest stool, folding one leg over the other.]
Talking first, poking later. There's no better way to start than you telling me what you know. I'm kind of used to every being I examine being too dead to talk back, which was kind of a bummer. So, like. Thanks for not being dead, man!
no subject
When my mother was pregnant with me, she was exposed to the dust form of a material we call element zero. That's what gave me biotic potential. I was fitted with an implant-- it's at the base of my skull-- and sometimes I suffer migraines. I also give off a static charge.
Oh, and biotics run a little warmer than usual. When we use our biotics, there's a cooldown period. I went through a lot of energy drinks and food in the last mission.
no subject
[The more he can understand the language and what's behind it, the better.]
no subject
Let me just show you. [He suddenly lights up blue. The barrier covers his entire body, making him glow] This is my biotic barrier. It's like an extra layer of protection in battle. I can hold this for hours at a time, even when I'm getting shot. Other powers take more concentration and energy. [He drops the barrier again] All I do is think about it and it happens.

Training Montague
Days fly weirdly in space, turns out. And the closed environments made him antsy. Especially after spending so long in the open city. Still, he did not want to remain idle, a prime way to get rusty, useless.
That's how he found himself in the training room, finding Kaidan there.
"Heard a rumor someone was here lookin' for a sparrin' partner" he started casually. "That be ya?"
no subject
"It would," he nodded. "Haven't seen you in a while. I'm glad to see you made it out of our last mission in one piece." He took a few steps back to give them more room to work with. "If you're feeling up to it, let's dance."
no subject
Majima's step remained light, and before he slid into the fighting stance he did the bare minimum of a warm-up. Neck stretch, a roll of shoulders (that pop when everything got back into its place) going down the arm— aaand that will do
"Oh, if it's a dance ya want, I can put on a show" He stated in a cheeky tone, as the horrible idea struck him. Granted, breaker battles worked best in a crowd, (and with an audience, as the triplets would argue), but an element of surprise was always good when going against someone professionally trained. And Kaidan definitely was. Space or no space, he was a soldier
no subject
He took a fighting stance, bracing himself for whatever Majima was about to do. He'd already encountered some unfamiliar moves when sparring with Zhao. He could only guess what sort of style Majima would use. The one mental rule Kaidan had was he wouldn't use his biotics in this fight. It wouldn't be fair, not even to use as a barrier.
no subject
He opted to start right with a left hook following fluidly into a back-fist. Not giving full strength into the strikes, (it's a friendly bout, isn't it?) expecting to get either blocked or diverted. Speed was another thing, that he did nothing to keep down.
no subject
"I'm sure you've been asked this before, but how did you lose your other eye?" No reason why they can't talk and spar at the same time.
