CHARACTERS: Yzak and everyone
LOCATION: All 'round the station!
DATE: Various, who needs time
CONTENT: Post-mission stuff
WARNINGS: will note if any come up!
[ Yzak returns from the mission relatively unscathed - save for some general bumps and bruises (a couple of light, healing ones on his face, don't worry about where they came from (it's all Athrun Zala's fault)), so he has less time to worry about burns healing this time around and more time to prepare and await the next mission. Resting, too, but even resting for Yzak Jule usually entails him doing something while he relaxes (reading, chess, lazy Charter symbol tracing to keep sharp). Otherwise, he's out and about as he always is, barely able to sit still for long and shedding his Ti'shaaz getup to default back to his military uniform. ]
01. The Obligatory One (OPEN)
[ There's something about a Gundam character staring quietly out into space and lamenting on recent events that invokes Meaningful Talks. So if any characters happen to pass by or join him and have the need to talk about things - their recent mission, their overall objective, something else weighing on their mind, this is the prompt for that.
Yzak's always got a lot thoughts about those things, after all. After two wars full of blood, death and anguish where many things weren't what they seemed and too many wrong paths that always appeared perfectly fine to walk down at first, these missions, this situation is hardly something new. ]
02. Some Respite (OPEN)
[ If emotional moments while staring out of windows into space isn't your thing, and you want to follow up with Yzak after the mission in any capacity (checking in on him, met him briefly and want to talk to him more?) he can also be found at various points heading into his room. He's got a few fun things in there. ]
03. Giant Robot Time (OPEN)
[ Yzak doesn't really bother with private simulations unless he has a good reason to. So anyone who happens upon it today will find it occupied and showcasing SPACE and MECHA. They'll be standing on a small holographic platform with a few screens and keyboards, with a full 360 view of the space around them.
For those familiar with Earth and its moon, that much won't be new. What might be new to some are the cluster of 100+ hourglass-shaped space colonies in orbit, as well as the manner of fighting going on in the surrounding area. All sorts of different looking space battleships are spread out, though the nearest ones are two of these. Yzak is currently going over a replay of what he was just immersed in for practice, so the focus of the images being broadcast are focused on this white mobile suit specifically. And there are all sorts of other different types and colors of similar machines out there on the battlefield as well - all roughly in the same ~20 meters size area and donning an equal amount of assorted weapons (and there are some other weird looking machines among them too like this thing). Those focused on the overall scene will see many explosions and flashes of light, as mecha are cut down and battleships destroyed in the near distance. Which is probably a pretty grim sight against the beautiful backdrop of outer space behind it.
Wearing a flight suit with a similar color scheme to his uniform and his helmet tucked under one arm, Yzak is engrossed in going over every move he (and every enemy he comes into contact with) just made in the simulation battle, pausing the replay, moving the platform around to get a better look at an angle, taking notes and adjusting things via the keyboard. ]
I'll change and speed up the timing on that Windam, and add three more reinforcements for it from behind...
04. Quali-tea Time (CLOSED to Hermann)
[ During their mission on Braccia, Yzak and Sabriel talked about her newly aquired (and pretty fuckin' cool) tea set and how maybe one day they'd see who wanted to drop by for a little chill out tea time to show it off and relax a bit, maybe even talk and get to know one another some more. Yzak's never really been to a proper tea party himself, but the idea wasn't bad from his point of view (especially since when Yzak says 'not bad' that means he likes it). He knew, for example. Hermann had good taste in that regard, so he'd probably be down with that! Of course, once they're back on the station, the ever astute Yzak realizes he hasn't seen Hermann out and about. So one quiet evening, he decides to reach out to him via the earpieces, opting to just go audio. ]
Doctor?
05. Wildcard (OPEN)
[ I'm literally down to roll with anything. Have an idea? Give it to me! ]

But the kinder side of Yzak wins out in the end. Newton is a friend, he likes him, even. And this is basically a simulation of a simulation, so ultimately, harmless.
Still, the Major side of him can't help but kick in, too. ]
Fine.
But only if you intend to take it seriously! As seriously as you would if you were really planning to fight!
no subject
Besides, you never know when knowing how to kinda pilot a robot could come in handy!
[What if they're about to all die on a mission and Newt has access to a gundam???
STRATEGY!]
no subject
Let me just make a few adjustments...
[ Because not only does Yzak have his own difficulty ramped up to train, but some of the basic controls have to be adjusted here and there as well, so someone like Newton can handle it and get it moving. There's been enough back and forth with OS technology (ie: stealing) that Yzak would know some basic ins and outs of how the Naturals in the Earth Alliance have their recent systems set up. ]
Do you have a preference for combat type? Our ZAKUs have three different packs they can equip that specialize in long range, melee, and speed.
no subject
He stares for a long moment at the controls, looking mildly lost.]
Uuuuuh. How... do I know which to specialize in, again?
[Flawless start.]
no subject
Melee puts you closer to your enemy, but you're faster, have higher accuracy chances and a more varied choice in weapons. The disadvantage to that is being so close to your enemy means you stand a bigger chance of being surrounded.
The units equipped for speed are best used for support and reaching an ally if they need aid. The weapons are sparse on them, but enough to provide the support needed to get your allies out of a tight spot.
So if you don't know, then for now choose which of those sound the most comfortable for you.
no subject
I don't trust myself not to accidentally shoot my teammate. Aaaand I definitely think I'd get my ass kicked in a melee fight between robots. So... I guess I should do support! Right? Something that'll let me collect teammates who need it. Maybe some kinda... I don't know... short-range gun? Just in case?
[He sounds like he's genuinely trying hard to pick the right choice, okay!]
no subject
Here.
[ He pulls up the specs. Thrusters, the gun, also a hard grenade, some missiles, and a beam tomahawk. As well as a nice big shield on its left shoulder. Him. ]
Don't stress too much over it. I told you to treat this seriously, but it's still a simulation. You won't know what feels best until you try, anyway.
no subject
[I mean, it also looks like someone in a show who'd be first to die, but...
He stops, and looks at Yzak. Very. Very. Sincerely!]
... Can you simulate it with cool skulls on the shoulders?
no subject
Thankfully Newt seems to know the secret hack to making it less of one. Customization!
He stares back at him, almost like he's going to say something else, but relents in the end. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE, ]
Yeah, if you want to customize it a little ... that's fine. My unit's color was customized to my preference, after all, and so was Dearka's.
[ So he pushes the keyboard to Newton, giving him this power. ]
no subject
He's cracking his knuckles, don't mind him.]
Alright, sweet...! We're gonna do some skulls on the shoulders, totally gonna put some spikes shaped like a mohawk on the helmet, and — oh! Bandstickers! Bandstickers all over the outside; you guys put stickers on yours, right? Holy shit, imagine all that room for it...! How about a cool glowy blue eye?!
[BLEEP BLOOP BLOOP -
So sorry, Yzak, we'll be here a moment.]
no subject
[ How hideous is this thing going to be......
Yzak watches with an awed preemptive horror. ]
no subject
Done!
Whaddya think?
no subject
Very much you.
[ Is that a compliment or an insult?
Yes. ]
no subject
[And he does so, very effortlessly, like he's used to pretending people say one thing and not another (because he is absolutely used to doing this).]
Now, show me how to properly pilot Fox Mulder.
[He named him.]
no subject
[ But it's whatever. ]
And piloting them takes a lot of focus and skill. The main areas of movement are the hand lever there and the pedal on the ground. The rest of the control panel are the weapons, communications and similar devices. When in combat you're expected to commit everything to memory as quick action is the difference between life and death. Since you're supposed to have your attention on the screen and the location of both your allies and enemies. But since we're just getting started and you're getting a feel for it, you can take your time with it.
no subject
[So everyone on Newton's planet is a raging nerd, certified.]
Alright, though. Focus. Got it.
Just the hand lever and the pedal? Is the pedal, like, the gas? Like a car?
... Does a giant walking robot use gas where you're from? Ours was nuclear for a long time; that was kind of a horrible idea at first, but y'know, the radiation shielding helped a lot...
no subject
The pedals are similar in that nature. And no, these units are powered by ultracompact energy batteries.
There are a handful of units that are nuclear powered, though. Our world was completely blocked from any sort of nuclear energy use for a stretch of time - after my people were attacked and one of our colonies were destroyed, we developed Neutron Jammers so the Earth couldn't do it again. It meant we had to give it up, too, but considering what was at stake...
During the course of the first war, that changed. Our leader developed mobile suits with technology cancelling those jammers. And the idea was to keep it to just that, but of course that technology leaked, so we're right back to the same bullshit again.
