Daisy’s Room
[A lot of Daisy’s time the first few days back is spent in her room. Just having a bed again was nice. After having to get used to sleeping on a damp, hard floor. Startling at the sound of a knock on the door, Daisy turns her head to see if her roommate is here before getting up slower than she would’ve liked.]
Coming.
[Between not having much to eat in the last few weeks, and all of the fighting they had done. Daisy is feeling weaker than she would ever admit. Opening the door, Daisy smiles tiredly.]
Hey. What’s up?
[She totally wasn’t just asleep. Nope. Very much awake. There are dark circles under her eyes and wounds that have been patched up. Most of them are hidden, but a few can be seen on her face and hands.]
Kitchen
[When she isn’t sleeping, she can be found in the kitchen, heating up something simple. Zoning out as she waits for the food to finish up. Daisy turns when she hears footsteps approaching only to realize she never set a timer.]
Shit.
[Grabbing an oven mitt, she pulls out the chicken nuggets she had been cooking for herself, and they’re more or less burnt.]
Think they’ll be edible with enough ketchup?
Infirmary
[Daisy might not have any medical training, but even she knows she can’t keep the same bandages on until her wounds heal. Having just gotten out of the shower, Daisy makes her way back to the infirmary to grab a few supplies. She doesn’t know the drawers and cabinets like the people who work in here do however. So she can’t be as quick to get in and out of here as she’d like to be.]
Common Room
[Sprawled out on one of the couches reading a random book from the shelf, Daisy’s more or less just staring at the book, zoned out, when someone tries to catch her attention. Snapping out of it, she looks up in their direction.]
Hey.
[Pulling her feet in to give them room to sit, Daisy scoots up, so she’s not so slouched over.]
How are you doing?
[She’s looking better than she had the other day, but she’s still banged up pretty good.]
Training Room
[Finally feeling more like herself, Daisy wastes no time in getting back to training. For a while, she’s by herself in here. Taking out of her frustrations on a punching bag while blasting music, it feels good to be back in her old routine.
Suddenly her music lowers considerably, and she turns to see someone’s lowered it,]
Sorry, what?
[She assumes they were trying to say something to her and she just hadn’t heard them anyway.]

Leaning against the counter she watches Andy grab vodka from the fridge,]
Vodka and chicken nuggets is an interesting combination.
no subject
Vodka's versatile. [ it's become her favorite. ] So are chicken nuggets.
[ she doesn't make a move to open the bottle yet, undecided if she's just taking it for her hoard or going to need it sooner. ]
You're one of those people that puts ketchup on everything, aren't you?
no subject
Makes shitty food taste good.
How come you were looking for me?
no subject
Are you seriously asking me that question?
no subject
Yeah, I guess I am.
no subject
There's a lot of reasons I'm looking for you, now including why you're playing dumb. I'm not an idiot. And neither are you.
[ well. daisy might be a little bit of an idiot for her 'while in jail' stunt but andy wisely knows to keep that to herself. ]
no subject
We both know that’s not true.
no subject
[ yeah, okay, they were dumb, she can't sugarcoat that. it's a fine line between being firm and being concerned. ]
Make a better one now and talk with me.
no subject
About what?
[It’s a genuine question. She’s done a lot of stupid things recently.]
no subject
That's a much better question. [ it's a better start. ] I know there's probably a lot. But I don't like you playing stupid with me, or ignoring me, so can we at least both agree to try here? You're an adult and I'm old as shit. The avoidance game is getting shoved out an airlock.
no subject
I know. I'm just--
[Chewing on the inside of her cheek, Daisy looks towards the ceiling as she figures out what to say.]
I'm embarrassed of what I tried to do that night in your room.
[This really doesn't seem like the place to have this conversation, not when there's more to it.]
Can we go somewhere more private?
no subject
[ her expression softens with a quiet understanding, and she nods. ]
We can. You can pick. [ maybe if it's somewhere daisy feels safer, comfortable, even if it's a place she can more easily flee from, it'll set a more level playing field. andy might have cornered her to start the conversation, but she doesn't want to keep daisy feeling trapped that way for it. ] Bring your nuggets.
no subject
[And it's where she was originally planning to go to eat her dinner. Taking the plate, she leaves the oven tray for now to deal with it later on.
Leading the way there, Daisy opens the door and lets Andy step through first before entering. Her bed wasn't made yet, and there are a few empty coffee mugs on the floor near her bed that she hasn't gotten around to bringing back to the kitchen just yet. Putting her chicken nuggets on the table near her bed, Daisy takes a seat at the head of her bed.]
Sorry it's a little messy.
no subject
You're fine. [ she moves and sits, leaving a few feet between them, just in case. ] Eat. I wasn't trying to interrupt that.
no subject
It's fine, I--
[She cuts herself off as she debates whether or not to just come out and say it, before finally deciding that at this point she should just be completely honest.]
I know you don't feel the same way I do, and that's okay. I just need to say this because it's been eating away at me.
[She finally makes eye contact with her, her stomach in knots.]
I didn't just try to kiss you because I was drunk and emotional. I've been wanting to do that for a while.
no subject
[ but she's proud of her for making eye contact. ]
So it was more like liquid courage. [ and in retrospect, andy can see very clearly why daisy might have actually wanted to kiss her. it hadn't been intentional, but andy isn't sure if that's better or worse. she is somewhat notorious with this sort of thing - her brothers constantly teasing her when she accidentally or on purpose breaks a heart. they still argue about the nature of her walking away from rodin. ]
[ she resists the urge to reach for daisy's hand, an instinct to offer comfort. ]
Thank you, for being honest. I'm really sorry that I lead you on.
no subject
Basically, yeah.
[And as good as it feels to get that off her chest, her stomach is still in knots. Had she screwed all of this up? She likes Andy, romantic feelings aside, and she doesn't want that friendship to be gone.]
What? No, you didn't.
no subject
[ she curls her hand into a fist, then stretches out her fingers. ] Un-intentionally, maybe. I know what I can be like.
[ the easy way she offers up affection after a certain point. the flirty banter, both casual and blatant. that combined with what she's gleaned about daisy and her self-worth - andy definitely feels like she hadn't done much to dampen it. then again, she hadn't even noticed the crush brewing either. ]
no subject
I shouldn't have avoided you like that either. I was just afraid of making it worse. I didn't--
I don't want our friendship to end because of that night.
[She never intended to get close to anyone here, but it happened, and her friendship with Newt has been ruined. She can't handle going through that again.]
no subject
I don't want that either. I wasn't lying when I said it the first time, though I understand why you might have needed some space at first too. [ she hadn't come here to make friends!! and yet here she is, trying to patch a friendship up. wanting to make sure they're okay, or that they could be okay. ]
But I think your avoidance tactic started getting a little carried away.
no subject
The last time I tried to talk it out with someone, our friendship got ruined. I was just trying to avoid that happening again.
no subject
[ just because andy has a tendency to self-isolate doesn't mean she doesn't understand how talking it out with someone should work!! ]
But avoiding someone indefinitely can make things worse in a different way.
no subject
[That's the whole reason Newt had gotten angry in the first place, you think she'd learn her lesson after that... Or the other times she's done the exact same thing.]
Are we--?
[She inhales as she turns to look at her, afraid but prepared for Andy to reject her.]
Are we good?
no subject
[ she recognizes the hint of fear in daisy's face, and she hastens to reassure. ]
I'd like us to be good. But that depends on you, too. [ a beat. ] I can't reciprocate, not the way you deserve or want. Is that going to be okay?
no subject
[It shows just how much Andy has paid attention to her, and that maybe Daisy needs to do a better job at not seeming so obvious. Smiling sadly when Andy is straight forward with her, she nods in agreement.]
Yeah. I'm good with that.
[She's just relieved that their friendship hasn't been ruined.]
