Prompt #01
[ Standing on the teleportation platform, scuffed and dirty from the mayhem earlier and still clad in his Sedorum armor - only sans the wings, now - Yzak watches as he feels the orb pull away from his fingertips and float through the doors of the North Wing. As if the orb itself was giving him his energy, he feels his shoulders slump in the moments after that, adrenaline finally beginning to melt away from him and being replaced with a dull ache in his muscles to remind him of how much just happened.
But it's the sort of ache Yzak would vastly prefer over the sort he had after returning from the last mission. The sort that feels worth the struggle because the result wasn't something that gripped and twisted at his heart with sharp, thorny vines, making him feel ultimately helpless; something that someone with his sort of ego can so very easily feel.
There's a lot to think about. Very important things that came out during that final battle. And they're already on his mind, with the way his brow furrows, the way he looks down at himself and idly wipes at some of the blood on his armor. But louder than those thoughts is what Entr'i said to him in parting repeating in his mind.
... but also, I hope, a friend.
That, and his attention is drawn to the sounds and voices around him as the others collect themselves, some heading to the infirmary, some simply stepping back to catch their breath. Yzak realizes that he can think about those other things shortly, even speak about them to the others, but for now he should see how everybody is doing.
And maybe sit down somewhere, eventually. ]
Prompt #02
[ Because we'll never not have a moment where the Gundam character is staring meaningfully out into space.
Here Yzak is again shortly (anywhere from a couple to a few days) after their return, cleaned up and rested in one of the curved hallways connecting the wings of the station. His hands lean against the sill of the window as he gazes out into that mostly-dark-and-empty space outside, as if staring long enough will make those faint, distant little lights seem closer. ]
"I need the amulets to return home," huh...
[ He mutters to himself thoughtfully. Now that things have properly calmed down, that he's made sure his friends and allies are doing well, it's time to focus again. And allow himself to go over in his mind everything that just recently transpired. ]
Prompt #03
[ Back to it, ever moving and always keeping himself busy, Yzak falls back into his usual routine, so is always catchable around the station. If anybody comes to visit him in [A. his room] (he'll let anybody in if they knock), they'll find him sitting on his bed next to his opened violin case, the violin proper set gently in his lap. In one hand he holds a small, beaded charm of a simple design, mainly silver in color but splashed with vibrant blues and reds, and he's currently considering the merits of attaching it to the end of the instrument. He's pretty deeply focused on this, as if it is an extremely important decision he's making. Of course, everything else in his room is on display as always.
He [B. trains] in the training room to keeps himself in shape, working on his marksmanship and bladework, he appears in [C. the kitchen] to make something for himself or perhaps to brew some tea (or coffee, in the mornings), he can be found in the [D. common area] reading, or perhaps setting up a game of chess if anybody agrees to play with him. He's also taking a moment closer to after their return to the station to peek into the [E. the living area], specifically the room of where one Athrun Zala was residing prior to their last mission. The room is now empty. And upon stepping back out of it, Yzak turns and angrily kicks the door after it shuts behind him. ]

[Because in that memory he'd been waiting, knowing his brother would arrive soon. He still had time to make a difference, and he used it as well as he could. But the thought of that causes him to break eye contact and focus on the board - transparent, but what can he do. No point pretending it was a pleasant time.]
He grew up without me, if that's what you mean to ask. I'm hoping I can change that.
no subject
And if it was for the sake of a kid like him - though I guess he's not much of one now, I'm sure you did everything you did to try to get out of that fate.
... too many people look at those they care about and say "I would die for them." And that's a sentiment I understand as a soldier, because if it came down to it, I would give my life for a cause or a loved one with no question. But not without trying to live for that cause first and foremost. I think I'm starting to wish "I would live for them" was the more common sentiment to reflect that dedication.
no subject
[His gut reaction is to protest, of course, but he knows better than to do so. The sentiment is a good one, and it's one Law would agree with. It was what he had intended to do before the situation quickly became one he could see no way for them both to get out of alive, and too many alternatives would wind up in both of them dead.
But Law brought him back to life long before that. Law is responsible for Rosinante finding new meaning and new goals. He only had a little while to work toward that, but maybe now they'll have years and years, if they get the changes made that they need to make.]
All too often back home I see friends and families placed on hold. People go off to join the Marines or to take up piracy and whatever their reasons for doing one or the other, it means leaving spouses and children and others behind for years, if not permanently. Wish it didn't have to be like that.
no subject
But some of them, they join for the same reasons, don't they? For the sake of those friends and family that they put on hold, because they want to make things better for them. That's how it is for many of us back home, anyway. The hope that that time spent away will be worth it in the end, if they can return to them and they can all have a better, peaceful life together.
no subject
[It's hard to keep faith that peace will eventually come and that things will eventually be better. He knows as much of his world's history as is allowed, and then a few things here and there that sneak around the corners of cultural taboos thanks to his unusual circumstances. What it all tells him is that true peace for everyone might never happen - that peace is hard-won and bought with blood and that at best it's temporary.
But he wouldn't still think of himself as a Marine if he didn't think that could ever be changed.]
When was the last time your world saw peace?
no subject
I could say "never," because tension and small outbursts of fighting have existed since Coordinators did. But complete, all out war ... roughly four or five years ago, now. The "peace" we had for a few months in between the wars wasn't much of one.
What we're working on now - prior to my arrival, is a hope to not have a third round of that bullshit.
no subject
I know you've told me a little about your work back home, but it sounds like the Coordinator role must be an older one than I would have realized. How did that come to be?
[He's still only half-sure he even knows what that means, too, but probably some will come out through the explanation that should help fill in the gaps.]
no subject
Being a Coordinator isn't a role. We're a race of humans who've been genetically enhanced.
no subject
I misinterpreted your meaning, then. The tension and violence in your world is newer. I'm used to something like that being a thing you might claim has been around as long as humanity itself.
no subject
One hopes not, but ... humanity fears and it's egotistical. That much has never changed. All we've served to be are something new to fear in that cycle.
no subject
And it isn't as if people don't to this day fight over devil fruits either, so the comparison is appropriate.]
Fears can be overcome, though. It's a slow process, some people learn faster than others and some places are more accepting, but knowledge spreads. Kindness spreads.
[And people find newer, more frightening things once the old things become duller. There's always something new to fight and kill over. But he keeps hearing from people here that they think of him as optimistic, and he's decided to preserve the illusion by keeping those thoughts to himself. Optimism is better for morale as long as it's not wildly out of hand.]
no subject
A lot that needs to be put in from both the Naturals and ourselves. Kindness can spread for sure, but fear and hatred are just as quick moving. I'm not so ignorant that I know we probably have a long way to go, however, I have every intention to see it through.

[Meanwhile, his chess outlook is starting to be pretty grim. Yzak's skills have sure taken their toll on his pieces, and he's running out of options for moves. Still, it's good to get back into playing. Been too long.]
no subject
[ Yzak stares over the chessboard for a few more moves, still careful despite also noting the edge he has. He knows better than to celebrate a victory early. ]
Checkmate.
[ He can't completely hide the smugly victorious tone in his voice. ]
no subject
[He shrugs, grinning despite the loss. It'll be a good challenge, polishing his chess skills to try and compete better.]
no subject
[ It's not a lie. Yzak doesn't lie. If he truly thought Rosi was atrocious at the game, he'd say as much. ]
I've been trying to advance my skill by asking Blue to play with me with his psionics. If you're looking for a high level challenge, someone who can read your mind is a good option.
Sharpens in-the-moment decision making skills, as well.
no subject
[Been a while since he talked to the guy, but he got the sense his reluctance to allow anyone into his head makes his presence less satisfying for someone used to that level of emotional contact. So it's nice to hear Blue has someone he can share that with.]
Well, any time you like, I'll be ready for another game. Can't get better if I don't play more.
