I. Seeing for the First Time, a Second Time
[ Finn's got a headache that slowly wants to transition into a migraine but it's like the best migraine ever if there is such a thing. It's caused by the sudden amount of light and information and everything that his eyes are suddenly getting. Because he can see now. After being blind for a few weeks, he can see.
In a way, it's almost like just became blind all over again considering how much it's knocked him off-balance. He'd just managed to get used to navigating with the Force and now--
Well, now he's kind of gawking. Finn's already gotten Blue and James seen to in the infirmary, and now he's just sort of wandering around. (He's going to go back soon, though, since he didn't really want to leave them in the first place.) What Finn should maybe do is go to his room, rest his eyes, slowly crawl back into the world, but that's obviously not what he's doing.
It's just. Everything. Everything is so pretty and shiny, and how did he forget all of these little things? The floor is so polished that it's practically reflective. There are tiny little lights on the doors that blink bright colors when they sense movement. And don't even get him started on the view outside the windows.
He spends a lot of time in the sunlight room for the next few days and can be found squinting at the fake flowers and fake trees and fake sky. There's a dopey grin on his face, even if he's trying to find tells that prove these aren't real.
During the station's evening hours, however, he's usually in the common living area. Finn's found a window with a couch in front of it and usually just sits there in the dark, watching the outside. There's not much to see if you've seen this view a million times like he has, but it reminds him of the rare glimpses of space he'd get during his childhood. Weirdly, it took all this to remember why he treasured those sights so much.
... For anyone that argued with him back in Braccia, though, this is absolutely not proof that he wasn't fine being blind. Because he was. It was fine. Everything was fine. This is just... better. ]

[ True to his word, Finn can be found in the training room during the station's morning hours. This is where he goes for his own training, anyway, so it's not like he's going out of his way to wait on someone that may not appear.
But if they do appear, they'll be met with a bright smile and a lot of questions. After the whole "how are you? how was your morning? did you sleep okay?" since he's in such good spirits lately, he'll actually ask the real questions. What do you want to learn? What do you already know? Have you ever been in a fight before? Have you ever used a weapon before? Etc.
If you're a seasoned fighter and just here to spar, he's down with that, too. Everyone needs to keep their skills sharp.
Want to learn self-defense? Well, the first lesson is to know how to fall properly, because you're going to fall a lot. You should also know how to take a punch, how to give a good punch, how to break defenses, how to disarm your opponent, how to handle the weapon you just disarmed them of, all of that good stuff.
Want to learn how to use a firearm? Be prepared for a lecture before you even so much as see a gun. Don't point it at people, always assume it's ready to fire, don't point it at people, keep your finger off the trigger unless you're shooting it, and, for Force sake, don't point it at people. If he trusts you enough after The Lecture, then he'll let you give it a go with every single safety precaution he can think of, but don't expect to use one on your first day with him.
>> ooc. He'll be doing this for the entirety of their downtime, so feel free to start a thread at any point of the learning process you prefer. ]

[ ooc. Want to do something else? Go for it! PM me if you want to plot something. ♥ ]

[ Yzak speaks from behind him in the common area, noting his focus on outside. Something he's far more used to ... but he still kind of misses the specific view he gets at home. ]

Thank you. I'm... sorry for worrying you. [ Actually, he should apologize to a few people about that... ] I didn't see you during the battle. Did you make it out okay?
no subject
And, of course I did.
[ Mainly just a few bumps and bruises from some scuffling on the "imagining enemies effect" floor. ]
As bullshittingly wild as things went in the end, there. [ Seriously, it was an action movie with traps and crumbling buildings in the midst of those final moments before they obtained the orb. ]

[ Things happen in the field. Does things often happen to Finn. That's just the way his life works.
Anyway, he nods, agreeing. ]
Things turned into a mess fast. I'm... kind of surprised none of the injuries were more severe, but we did okay. [ Could have done better. ]
no subject
And, we're a team, so with all of us looking out for one another, I'm more grateful than surprised that we got out of said mess relatively okay. And with the orb.

Speaks to our skills and trust, I guess. Shows that we can improve in the future.
I, uh- With everything that happened, I used a little more of the Force, tried to learn about it. How did it go with you? Did you figure anything out about that power of yours? [ Y'zak did say he was put into their family without really knowing beforehand what he could do. ]
no subject
That being said, I fared well with my time on Ti'shaaz. I already learned quite a number of spells from Sabriel prior to the mission, and our time there allowed me to pick up more and continue my training without any issues.
What else have you managed to learn about your power?
no subject
You could say that I have more awareness of it. I can sense others better, can feel the world around me more. It's like a started using a whole other sense when I lost my sight but now that I can see again, it hasn't gone away.
no subject
And it means you'll have a better focus on it to gather a better understanding of it.
Is it something a lot of people have, where you come from?
no subject
[ He still doubts it, though, considering what Skywalker had done. ]
But I do know a few of them. My best friend had it and was being trained by someone else who did.

Why hunted?

They called it the Jedi Purge. When the Republic fell and the Empire took over, the Emperor had the same power that I did. He tried to kill everyone that also had it but didn't follow him.
It wasn't really random. There was a war going on, and the Jedi stood against him. But once the Jedi Order was destroyed, everyone else they found with this was usually taken or killed, from what I understand. Plus, he tried to rewrite history a little, make people believe the Jedi and the Force never actually existed. A lot of people believed it.

[ He lets out a low, frustrated little grunt. ] No matter what kind of place anyone comes from here, there's always something going on like that, isn't there? Wars, idiots in power doing horribly stupid shit.
no subject
But no, you have a point. People like that are everywhere. And there's always someone that will follow them.

People in positions in power are, as unfortunate as it is, really good at talking and making things sound better than what they really have going on under the surface. That's how they get into those positions and gain followers in the first place. It's happened on more than one occasion over our time at war where I'm from, too.

[ Every place has its own little corner of hell, Finn's pretty sure. But there has to be some better than others. Even if the bar is low, it's still higher than what it was before. People like him work and die for every inch of it. ]
no subject
In either case, I hope that Emperor you mentioned's been taken care of.
no subject
He has. Hopefully, for good. We thought he was dead for the last thirty or so years, but he should be gone now. [ Should. Finn puts nothing past the Force. ]
no subject
no subject
He almost did it, too.
[ Finn hadn't thought about it before but... wow, that actually must have been frustrating for Palpatine. So close to a thirty year long finish line and beaten by their ragtag group, a budding Jedi out of the desert, and his own apprentice. Again. Finn loves to see it. ]

They did before, during the last thirty years. A master made a school, took in pupils. But they were all killed by one of his students. Apparently, he was influenced by the Emperor.
There needs to be something, but the whole situation is just touchy for people right now.
no subject
[ It's not the same, but he at least understands the base feeling of wanting to feel at peace again, trying to get comfortable again only to have something else terrible happen. ]
But I imagine it is. Touchy, as you put it.
