( 001 / CLOSED ) HELP YOURSELF
CHARACTERS: Kaz Brekker & Jesper Fahey
LOCATION: One of the dorms
DATE: 06 June 2021
CONTENT: Crow bros reunion
WARNINGS: Imagery related to drowning, frankly rude treatment of one’s very best pal
[ A common dream meets a different end: Gasping, drowning, dying, blackout, instead becomes a conversation. An exchange of sorts, though the terms seem murky in his blurry recollections. Two states of mind in him. One tells him the deal is the deal, like always, with Jordie tipping the scales in favour of compliance, while the other hisses that he slipped. Only a pigeon would fall for the childish fantasy of a kinder life.
By the time Kaz finds Jesper, his leg aches from traversing the station — and his hope, though he wouldn’t call it that, has begun to flicker, in and out. A coil of dark hair. A tall silhouette. All reveal themselves to be unfamiliar. Foreign in a more literal sense, too, from the sound of their accents and manner of dress — except General Kirigan, whose mere presence necessitates an uneasy truce. Uncontrolled and dangerous variables everywhere. Any plan for moving forward eludes him.
The sight of Jesper, sleeping soundly, cracks his face wide open and his features slacken with relief. An ally and a sharpshooter make for strong cards in hand, regardless of the game they’re playing. Just as quickly, his expression snaps shut, wiped blank by practiced control. His cane comes down hard on a dangling corner of the sheets, dragging them off his friend and onto the floor. Not even a blink at his state of undress, comfortable at a distance in his own careful layers. ]
Jesper. [ A sharp command, like always. As he leans closer, both hands folded over his cane, the corners of his mouth twitch downward. ] Jesper, up. You’re late.
[ Too many others are already awake. Nevermind that if Jesper were up and roaming, Kaz might not have found him. ]

no subject
[More guns for Jesper? More guns for Jesper. And maybe even some fancy ones, given this entire place is made of metal and...some other things, he's sure.
He follows obediently, clearly pleased he can simply slip back into Kaz' game plan. If the other man hadn't been here, there may well have been far more shaking and crying. But as it is? He can be the levity the situation so clearly needs.]
But if my dreams are going to start becoming real I- well. There may be a lot more baby Jesper's running around soon.
