MID-CONCLUSION LOG: STATION FINAL

// MID-CONCLUSION LOG:station final

The moment the Orb loses its control over the minds of the orbers, it’s as though the entire team can breathe again. Degar and Viveca look relieved, though Degar’s complexion still maintains some of its paleness from seeing history attempt to repeat itself.

But the team has won.

They’ve won and accomplished what they had set out to do all those months, years ago, each mission seeming to build in challenges and a test of bonds amongst new friends and family. There is still time to celebrate. Degar and Viveca see no need to keep themselves isolated from the rest of the team and join them in the Mess Hall where a humble little feast of food and drink is shared across long rows of tables. Those who can bake or cook are encouraged to join the effort, one last time to show off with your friends from another universe; music is played when Degar pulls out his old lute, recently repolished and restrung; games and one last movie is played for the team. The sunlight room displays a magnificent sunset over the sparkling river, surrounded by trees. And the training room, as always, remains open for those who seek to work out their emotions in other ways.

There is no urgency to move on to the next mission, no pinging sound to listen for within your earpieces, but there’s an ever underlying current of bittersweet anticipation knowing that this will all have to come to an end eventually. Eventually, in this case, is tomorrow.

It’s a reminder to be grateful for the time you have left with your friends and found-family here, and a time to prepare those long, goodbye speeches you’ve always known you’d have to perform but never quite saw the reality of until now.

Surprise! This is your very final log that you can use for goodbye threads, or any threads you want to take place post-game.

You can read the goodbye message from the mods here.

And finally, Degar has some jams for you:

[ OOC: Willing to thread some goodbyes if desired, but here is a little conclusion for Sherlock. ]

The time has finally come. Sherlock knows that prolonging his stay could be devastating. He's already been possessed once, and even if Viveca says that no one is infected anymore, Sherlock is wary. It's not the first time he's been taken over like this, and enough time has passed since he arrived on this station, startled, and calling out for Watson and Jon.

His goodbyes are shorter for those leaving like him. For those staying, he makes an effort for a proper goodbye as they will remember it. Yujin Mikotoba and Dr. John Watson will get longer goodbyes as well because... while he's never met their (S)Holmes, he'll ask them to take care of them regardless. Sherlock doesn't know if he's a weaker, broken version who's losing his mind, but on the chance the others are more like him, please continue to support them. They need more help than they realize. For whatever it's worth when none of them will remember this conversation.

Then, Sherlock feels a pull. Everything turns white....

... Sherlock pushes himself up back into that Other World. Giant axes swing from above. One symbol starts glowing, and Sherlock knows how he must proceed if he's to move forward. He dies multiple times to those axes. All the symbols glow and open the door. He returns to the bayou cultist camp with an occult book still in his hands. Watson finds him, finds Arneson, and saves Sherlock's life. It's not the last time Watson saves his life during this case.

What follows involves more heartbreak and madness, but during it all, their fates knot firmly together. A self-proclaimed coward finds courage and strength to face the most grotesque of horrors. A lonely young man questions reality and his own mind but realizes that he has made a friend, which makes all the difference. Holmes becomes Sherlock. Watson becomes John. The cultists never awaken their god. Many lives are lost, but thanks to the efforts of Sherlock and John, not all lives are lost.

But it would seem there is more than the chaos of the Orbs at play. A walk with John abruptly ends as another force sweeps Sherlock away from his world. Once more, Sherlock awakes--this time on the deck of a ship--startled and with a name on his lips.

"John?"
