CHARACTERS: EVERYBODY, toplevel away!
LOCATION: smushed very precariously into the North Wing
DATE: first night following the June log
CONTENT: slumber party!111!!1!!

NOTES: I'm posting this log OOCly, but ICly consider this a group effort rather than Yujin's doing - feel free to handwave how your character helped out :)

helped set up the place, pitching in to wrangle up whatever sleeping supplies they could;
is still helping get others settled, or checking in with the injured (or, emotionally distraught?);
is too wired to sleep, their mind racing from the day's events (or, maybe they just don't sleep?);
is CRANKY about their assigned Blanket Pile On The Ground, and trying to find somewhere else to rest;
or is trying to bring the orbers' spirits up, joking or laughing or entertaining in spite of the situation they all find themselves in.
Or maybe they're doing something else like having a pillow fight or something silly. I'm not the boss of you!!

It's been a long, exhausting, and emotionally trying mission. It would've been enough, even without the orbers finding themselves in this strange past incarnation of the Ximilia station, forcing them all down so many painful trips down memory lane.Perhaps your character:
And yet, at the end of the day... everybody's still got to sleep!!
With the help of Iris, the infirmary staff, and any others who've volunteered, the North Wing's been outfitted as much as it can be to sleep a crew of over 40 people. Spare linens from the infirmary, whatever pillows or makeshift cots the team has been able to create: though humble, it'll sleep everyone. It's hardly luxury accommodations-- this station is older and more worn, and the North Wing is meant for half their number-- but it's cozy enough for anyone desperate for some rest to get it.
(Some of you will have to share bunks, though. Or sleep on the floor. Sorry.)

action;
and no, you aren't seeing double. he's got several clones that's working diligently alongside him, a one-man army of 'many hands make light work'. maybe you've seen it before, maybe it's fucking weird. either way: one of the clones will gesture for your character's attention and ask politely to be passed some mundane object (tape? sheet? pillow?) to complete the latest area he's working on. )
( or perhaps he's sorting through the various nonperishable goods they've brought in, setting the visibly expired or dented cans aside. one can, entirely without a label, is examined curiously and then handed to the nearest person. )
Do you happen to know what this may be?
( the fuck's a spam, actually. )
Would you care for a cup of tea?

Helping out
At the moment she’s unwrapping a package of freeze dried ice cream, but she glances up as Itachi passes along a can of processed meat.]
Oh, that looks like Spam. Processed pork product. Kinda gross, but it was popular during war time, I guess. Better than nothing, you know.
no subject
You aren't wrong.
( it is in fact better than nothing. but that doesn't mean he'll be eating it, thank you — he's got soldier pills aplenty. itachi flips a marker between his fingers, and then writes: SPAM on its side in english, スパム on another side, and then holds out the marker for her. )
I confess, I would not be certain how to spell it in Cyrillic.
( just covering their bases. )
we'll sleep when we're dead
Under the circumstances, though, it is a quiet, peaceful first night, and Jim ends up wandering out of the room, feeling admittedly useless, and all the more restless for it. He stops when Itachi greets him, returning the tilt of his head with one of his own, and a smile. ]
Do you have any with you? I can go fetch us some, if not.

It's no trouble, James. You may sit if you wish.

vash / ota
[The idea of setting up a communal sleeping area for everyone is a charming thought, so Vash is quick to volunteer to help set everything up. He can be found doing a lot of scurrying back and forth gathering supplies, as well as moving the cots and pallets around so they can all fit in the space. If anyone seems to be having any difficulty with the more unwieldy items, he's quick to come up to them and offer a hand.]
Here, I've got it--
🎃 ii. scary stories to tell in the dark
[Sometime after the sleeping area is prepared and everyone's settled in for the night, but before anyone's really tired enough to go to sleep, Vash pipes up with a suggestion.]
We should tell scary stories to pass the time!
[The stories he has to tell are not exactly blood-curdling, though. They feature ghosts and skeletons, but nobody gets hurt or killed in any of them, and even the most bittersweet of the lot involves helping out a lost stranger.
Almost as though they were stories he'd been told as a child and held onto ever since.]
ii
How scary? I'd like not to end up jumping at every shifting shadow while we're here.

Now. He's still nine feet tall, but that is only true if he's still wearing his outer armor. After setup and seeing enough crew members come in, he decides now the good chance to sit on the floor, power down, and without warning, have his limbs pop off and his torso open up, revealing a 5-foot-tall Minimus with less impressive armor.]
...I forget not everyone knows this.
[His lifeless armor is off-limits, but that doesn't mean it's open for vandalism.]
You don't actually have to tag this back if you don't want, I just need this to be a canon moment
Minimus's limbs pop out. A smaller, essentially identical Minimus emerges from the torso.
Still laying on his side, but now tensed up and utterly frozen in shock, Ryunosuke's eyes are BULGING. He hisses, just barely under his breath, unable to stop himself from reacting:]
WHAT.
I'll tag it just a bit because I love it
TIME FOR A MOVIE (happy pride month)
[... Okay, granted, Newt should probably not be scouring the place for any semblance of movie, considering he's been delegated to resting and not straining the injury on his shoulder. But as far as he's concerned, he's got it stitched up, medicated, and relaxed plenty enough, okay? Anything to distract from the oversharing and awkward silences after seeing one's most personal memories, yanno?
So he pops the movie on, gets it rigged to play on the wall with the Movie Night EXP he has acquired over the years, and gets it going; immediately as he sits back, he grins and looks excited.]
Man, this seems familiar.
[And for a while, it is very much familiar. The Matrix — or something pretty close to it — begins to play out, including the homoerotic kung-fu scene between Neo and Morpheus; Newt always loved that scene. But it seems even more intimate than he remembers as a kid...? Weird. And he's 100% sure that the leather chaps and leather cowboy hats and mechanical horses and twangy accents weren't in the original—
Wait wait wait —]
[Newt gasps, newly captivated, a tiny and awed ooh escaping him.]

However, like it or not he was 'born minted' and that meant there were certain things and young gentleman did not do. Like watch, whatever was about to unfold on the screen before him, in mixed company. Hell. He barely made it through Lucy's innuendos without blushing.
Still. As he watched some of his fellow orbers and their reactions to the movie unfolding on the screen, he was chuckling softly as he packed up a make shift pillow and blanket. ]
Think I saw a fairly comfortable looking chair in the kitchen. [ Words softly spoken as he
made his escapebegan to pick his way carefully towards the exit. ](no subject)

But he does love a good story, the novelty of a feature-length film hasn't worn off on him just yet, and he trusts Newt's judgment on movies. (Seeing as Newt's movie nights are how he's seen... pretty much every movie he's ever seen.) So here the man is, fighting off mental and physical exhaustion, for a-- what is this? A martial arts, science fiction, North American themed... romance...? Between two men?
Perhaps it's that Yujin is too tired to process what is going on, or that the plot of this movie is just that weird, but he just. Can't stop watching. Unlike Ryunosuke, he doesn't even react to the content or the passionate-yet-tastefully-restrained romantic scenes (but yeah Ryu this shit's totally illegal sick lmao 🤘). The man sits crosslegged on his sleeping cot on the ground and watches the film with a whole spectrum of facial expressions, ranging from pensive to dumbfounded to--
--okay, FINE, that one gets him enough that he's visibly emotional, but he has the good sense not to cry, or anything.
Great film! Yujin falls asleep in the middle only once. Considering he's fighting off his innate Dad Falls Asleep In Front Of TV instincts along with the events of the last couple days, though, that's still a pretty strong endorsement.]

The Matrix is gayer than I remember.

tfw you wake up first at the slumber party | ota
All of this means that Yujin's stirring awake just a little too early. While most everyone's still asleep (save you weirdoes who don't sleep), the man sits up in his cot, looking around the North Wing with bleary eyes. He's too well rested to try for another couple hours; with what a mess this has all been, he's not going to try to disturb anyone's well-deserved rest.
He rises carefully, slips his shoes back on, and makes his quiet way over to the kitchen. If there was booze in those cupboards, there's got to be coffee, too. Or tea? Something caffeinated, anyway.]
