closed to Finn Mertens;
Sooooo, he's cooking. Actually, he's flitting from room to room, trying to find things to do, and the kitchen was his latest stop after the infirmary, gym, and armory. Perhaps it's unhealthy to just not think about his problems at all, but it's worse to sit in the dark and think of nothing but. So he's whisking something in a bowl like his life depends on it, squinting down at a book.
But upon noticing someone walking in, his head pops up. Another new person. Weirdly, that makes him feel more relaxed than he would be otherwise. ]
Hey, you hungry? I was about to make extras.
no subject
At the new face, Finn stops, reason for being here leaving his mind. The other man is friendly, almost immediately welcoming him with a comfort that seemed out of place for newbies. The dissonence confused Finn a little, recovering enough from the surprise to move further into the room.]
Oh, yeah, man. Always. [That's the truth. He walks over to the counter, leaning on it curiously.] Did you just get here? I thought I knew everybody, but...
[But you don't really seem new, Finn wants to say. Is that rude? He decides to keep that to himself for now.]
no subject
That's probably not what's happening but it makes Finn's shoulders ease a little. ]
Oh, sorry, yeah. I just got back, actually. Was here for about a year before I went back home. Ended up missing the last few months.
[ About three missions worth, he's been told. That's practically a lifetime.
He lets go of the whisk, rubs his palm on his pants to clean himself a little, and offers his hand. ]
I'm Finn. It's good to meet you.
1/2
...Finn?
2/2
My name’s Finn! I’ve never met another Finn before, this is so sick! [ He takes the other Finn’s right hand with his left, awkward but inevitable since Newt was currently doing repair work on his prosthetic right arm, shaking it enthusiastically. ] It’s nice to meet you too…Finn!
[ Another Finn, imagine.]
no subject
His reaction surprises even himself. A blink, three blinks, before the face splitting grin appears and excitement manages to thrum in his bones. Another Finn! ]
I've never met another Finn either! [ There's that instinctual "How'd you get your name?" question he wants to ask, but manages to hold on to that gem at the last second.
Anyway, he sets the bowl aside, food forgotten. ] How long have you been here? Did we only just miss each other?
no subject
Since like, a few months back? Bro. This is crazy. [ Maybe not that crazy, but try telling Finn that. ] The orbs must've been like, totally missing your Finn-energy and pulled me in instead!
[ That made sense, right?? ]
But now it's like... double-Finn! Dude, this is flippin' grease! [ He pauses. ] Wait, wait, do you have a last name?

closed to Cal;
Instead of taking the time to consider all of the choices he's been making lately, Finn's in the training room, reacquainting himself with his blaster. He didn't fight at all during his last mission and it's been awhile before that since he's had to use any other weapon. Not that he's one to let his skills go dull. Training is something he... tries to make routine. The last few months were a toll on him, though.
Well, his last few months.
Anyway, when Cal walks in, he'll find Finn shooting at a target against the far wall, lightsaber hanging from a clip at his belt. He's still as good a shot as ever, most of them landing dead center, but he finishes a round before even noticing someone else is here. His weapon lowers and a smile comes easily enough to his face, where only seconds before he seemed to be a little too serious. ]
Cal, good morning. Finding the station okay?
no subject
other than that, he's been doing a lot of meditating. more than he's done in a long time, given everything.
he stops when he walks into the training room; he's not surprised to see finn here but he watches him with curiosity as he shoots. at least, until he notices him. ] Hey.
[ he rubs the back of his neck and then smiles. ] Yeah, I've just been getting to know the place. Well, at least the training room and the kitchens.
[ then he gestures a hand at finn's blaster. ] You're a good shot.
no subject
Thanks. Had, uh- Had a lot of training back home.
[ It's kind of nice that he doesn't have to explain why. Sure, the details of his past are still tucked to his chest, but many from his galaxy shares something unfortunate in common. ]
Did you learn how to use one or did they just teach you the... lightsaber stuff?
[ There's probably a term for that. ]
no subject
[ not that a thirteen year old wasn't old enough to carry a blaster in their world but, well, cal had been focused on training his telekinetic abilities and sword-fighting skills. ] Officially, it was Jedi Combat training.
[ he tries to smile, thinking of before. ] The blaster part came later when my aim deflecting things got better.
no subject
Finn perks up at the mental image the last sentence brings. ] You mean, you can deflect blaster bolts? [ Rey can do that. Finn would love to be able to. ]
no subject
I could show you! [ he offers, starting to move toward the targets that finn was shooting at earlier with the confidence of someone who's deflected plenty of blaster bolts and is fine with a stranger shooting at him. at least finn wouldn't aim to kill. he stops in front of a target and calls out. ] Shoot me.

🎀?
closed to McCoy;
Seeing McCoy was a surprise, admittedly. The doctor had left shortly before Finn, and he had barely enough time to figure out how to deal with it before they were both put right back. So, as with many things, Finn's not going to think about what could have been or almost was. There's just now and that's okay.
He'd been told to come by McCoy's room, pick up his things that had been left behind and found their way to McCoy's reliable hands. Finn remembers vividly when he'd been given the picture and doesn't know how he feels about a repeat of such a scenario. So... he's not exactly in a hurry, but the doctor does eventually hear a soft knock on his door.
Finn's there to greet him with a small smile when it opens, hands in his pockets, almost actually calm. ] Hey. Sorry I took so long.
closed to Yzak;
The Resistance had seen some pretty difficult times, moments where hope was all but shot and they were almost wiped out because of it. He hadn't made the connection with his own problems, as usual, but he had with Yzak's. As General Organa would say, hope is like the sun. If you only believe in it when you see it, you'll never make it through the night.
And they're in for a long night.
So, his first order of business is to build up moral. He can't provide solutions, not yet, but he can try his best to lift Yzak's mood even a little. After some asking around, gathering a bare scant of information that he didn't already know, Finn's outside of Yzak's door when he knows the other man is inside. It's a chore, juggling this many books to attempt freeing up a hand, but he hadn't thought this far ahead. Yet he manages to knock while only dropping one of them.
And when it opens, Yzak will find Finn on the other side, a stack of about six books of various colors and sizes in his arms, trying to scoot another on the floor closer with his foot. But he freezes and looks up. ]
Morning. This a bad time?
no subject
Finn gets him on one of those rare occasions! Where he sleeps for a little longer than usual because he was up a little later the night before doing something or other. (training, reading, helping another orber out with some task, could be anything) So what greets Finn when the door opens is Yzak, in a satiny set of pjs and slippers (of some soft pastely color) with the right arm tied up to keep it out of the way, as well as a bedhead - or rather what would constitute as a bedhead for him because his hair is naturally so silky is usually just mostly falls back into place. Someone is one of those "woke up like this" kinds of unfairly pretty men. The light behind him is on in his room, but it was clearly just turned on from the way he's still blinking himself awake and the fact that his bed isn't made. ]
Finn...?
[ And then it's not just reaching the state of being awake why he's blinking, because he wasn't quite expecting this. ]
What are you doing?
[ He doesn't say it's a bad time, and sounds more confused than anything else. ]
no subject
Then again, Yzak getting angry with him is also a good distraction. Letting off steam or something like that. Maybe this was a good idea, after all.
That being said, there's a noticeable pause, like Finn actually forgot what he was doing. ]
Found some books. [ Because that's an answer. ] I heard you like to read and there aren't that many books around the station, but there were some in the belongings that McCoy was holding for me. Thought you'd like to borrow them or something.
[ Just don't ask how he came by them originally.
But if Yzak doesn't immediately get cross with him- ] Can I come in?
no subject
[ At Finn's question, he steps back with a nod of his head, motioning for him to come in. The extra room serves for it to have a nice comfy little recliner (that is FLUFFY and PLUSH) that's all his for the sitting. ]
I'll be right back. [ He says, and he's still within earshot so Finn can still speak and answer his book question as he steps over to the bathroom to get changed - he does not want to look sloppy for guests. ]
no subject
Fiction, mostly. One about some history on Earth, some fantasy. Didn't really know what you like.
[ So he brought a whole bunch, of course, not all of them even from his own collection. ]
no subject
Folklore, specifically. [ He speaks, offering the answer as to what he likes, and a moment later out he comes, now looking proper and not like (what he perceives to be) a mess. ] But that can cover a lot of things. [ He reaches toward the Earth history book, flipping it over to read the back of it curiously. ]
And, I really don't limit myself where reading is concerned. As long as it has substance. [ Probably unsurprising coming from him, mister serious business doesn't want to feel like he wastes his time. ]

closed to Itachi;
Scrolling through the network is difficult. There are so many names that are new, so many that are gone, and Finn has a difficult time parsing out just how many there are. After one read through, he starts again with names that he knows. Every one of them that he finds (here or gone) gives him a lot of mixed feelings. Sadness for both, happiness for both, everything in between.
He decides to reach out to some that he hadn't encountered in person yet, and the first on that list- ]
I've come back. [ And he has no idea what else to say but- ]
What's your status? Are you all right?
no subject
by the time he gets the message, he was already anticipating its arrival.
Yes.
much has happened. there are things to speak on. but none of it matters half so much as — Where are you? )
no subject
But he doesn't pry, especially since he knows he's just probably paranoid. Or depressed. Or both. ]
Was making my way through the common living area. I can meet you somewhere if you want.
[ Finn wants. ]

30 seconds
[ That's not a very accurate count, probably takes him a little longer because he's strolling, but it feels nice to be able to fall back into giving an ETA. Feels nice to know Itachi isn't one of the many who are gone now.
Nearing closer to the one minute mark, there's a knock at his door. ]
