CHARACTERS: The Darkling & Peter.
LOCATION: The Simulation Room.
DATE: Forward dated post Will Full mission.
CONTENT: A taste of space.
WARNINGS: None.
Peter made a promise. Despite his many flaws, he is a man of his word, and he wants to fulfill it before it's too late. Rather than a real, single place, the simulation is an amalgamation of his fondest memories of different places across the galaxy.
The Benatar sits on an open hangar similar to the one in Knowhere, massive, colorful, and filled with activity, not unlike a futuristic beehive. Aliens of all sizes and species walk on different platforms or fly around on their own ships. The huge windows, however, don't show the busiest parts of Knowhere, which could get overwhelming really quickly.
No, they oversee the much more welcoming city of Xandar, the capital of the Nova Empire, in its prime. This was before Ronan tried to destroy it, and before Thanos succeeded in whipping off most of the Nova corps. Modern tall building, lots of green and clean air. If one were to look up, past the baby blue sky, they would set their eyes on the stars above, visible thanks to the magic of the simulation.
The fabric of the midnight sky is carefully decorated with thousands of stars, as if someone had placed each one in very specific ways, surrounded by colorful nebulae, planets, a visible sun, distant moons and even a black hole. Every twinkle of light sewed delicately into the dark fabric of the sky.
Peter looks up at it from his position by one of the hangar windows, waiting for Aleksander to step into the room after leaving him a message to meet him there. He didn't say why, he wants it to be a surprise. A good goodbye gift.

The ones that might actually matter.
But he stays quiet, walking the hallway down to the Simulation Room, Peter's message revealing nothing about what they might be doing here but he's willing to give a bit of... trust... and go in near-blind.
The bracelet gone from around his wrist, he steps in to the room
And
Time comes to a grinding halt at the sight laid out before him. The breathtaking view almost glimpsed through the opening past this strange ship.
"Peter."
A greeting breathed in to the distant din of people on the world sprawling out and Aleksander's gaze snaps to Peter's- "Hello."

He's almost too lost in thought for a few minutes, watching but not seeing, until Aleksander's voice brings him back to the present. When he turns, there's a bright smile on his face, and he crosses the distance to meet his friend. The people around them sound and look real, but they don't really pay them any attention.
"Ey! Surprise! I did promise to show you part of my world, didn't I? This is Knowhere, the mining colony of Exitar. A little bit rough around the edges, but still a must-see place, if you ask me."

Like watching life itself, the swirling electric color mingling and the bustle of people minding their own business. It's the opposite of trees and dirt and the opulence of the Grand Palace and it is utterly breathtaking.'
Which might be evident in the way Aleksander stops, mouth softly parted as he watches the sight before turning his eyes back on Peter.
"This is amazing. And all I showed you was a hut," but he's smiling, eyes wanting to dart back to the spectacle before them. Back to the riveting colors and the flashing light. "Well...I'm certainly surprised."

"Ey, that was a lovely hut! Much more homely than any of this, I enjoyed that a lot. And I learned to churn butter, what else could I ask for?" That's the honest truth. It was sweet to see such a private and important part of Aleksander's life. "I have a lot of things to show you. Why don't we go for a walk to see the place and head to where my ship is parked?"

It's the Simulation room, he can't get lost, but looking at the infinity spreading out before him, it feels that way.
It feels... young.
Nodding, he follows, eyes darting around even if he tries to keep the emotions off of his face. "Lead the way, Peter." Another wonder, another sprawling marvel in front of them and Ravka feels far away here.

There's still some lingering anxiety because he needs to talk to the Darkling about his future plans, but that can wait. He wants to give the man some fun memories first. There's also a desperate attempt, a hope, that Peter will still remember some of this once he's gone. He doesn't want to lose what they have.
"Okay! Is this way." He gives Aleksander's arm a light tug, so they start heading towards the hangar properly. There are small mining ships flying above them in different directions.Â
"There's always someone working on this place, but there are also plenty of places to have a fun time. Clubs of a sort, bar, casinos...you gotta be careful too, because I can assure you that almost everyone around here would cheat at any game. Once we get to the Benatar, I was planning to give you a ride, or even let you fly my girl. What do you think? The ship has a double pilot system, so you don't have to worry too much about crashing into anything. I've got your back."

Which-- would probably be nothing like riding a horse. More like trying to control the metal-man named Drift than anything Aleksander had tried before being whisked away from Ravka, from the murk and mire of endless wars and thrust into space like a shooting star.
But he wants it anyway. Wants to feel the power that he has seen from afar so many times now. From the speeder bikes to the cars, the station moves through the darkness between the stars without it being felt - but. A spaceship.
"That's awfully bold of you," as he follows, placing that small amount of trust in a person to lead and not fearing overly much about it being a trap. Even though it could be, the best trap of all-- one that he wanted to step in to. The gentle comradery and Peter's easy smiles. "I've never done anything like this before."
