( she'd told mccoy that she'd rest when they were back on the station, though she'd never specified exactly how long she would rest for. and whilst there was still some part of her that wished for more sleep, that ever-tired part that never got its rest, she wouldn't sit around whilst there were others injured or recovering.
she couldn't sit around. and as strange as it was the medical area was perhaps the most familiar, something moiraine could feel useful in by fetching something or offering some light healing.

( she'd wandered here accidentally, though realistically she'd been wandering, had found this place, and just had no idea what it was.
some of it made sense, the jars of unknown liquids or items that she might find in a healer's room or perhaps even of her brown sisters, though the boxes of things that people had so far only described to her before as 'technology' was lost on her.
it didn't stop her from looking, curiosity amongst her confusion, carefully lifting something out to look at it.
maybe it beeps, maybe you know what it is and don't want it looked at-- but otherwise she's turning it over in her hands, looking for a mechanism or something obvious about it )
( Moiraine's offer comes near the end of his day, as he's packing it in and has no plans to return until tomorrow. McCoy puts his hands on his hips, his mouth quirked. )

( the looks that she's used to giving to lan to tell him that she's fine, even if not perfectly rested don't work on leonard. it's not that same well-trusted relationship that she's used to with her warder. and even when moiraine isn't exhausted from over-channeling she's never completely rested -- there's never time for that in her crazy mission.
but none of that exists here, there is time to rest after the mission they've just completed. except she doesn't know how to use that time. or this station. being active in the one thing she knows is the only thing she can comfortably do )

[ Days like this one seem to have their way for The Doctor to go about on his own, tinkering with gadgets. An itchy finger and over a thousand years keeping the TARDIS in working condition will do that to a time lord. He took a step out of his little work corner to complain about one of the other scientistsβ gadgetry, something about it not being βflashyβ enough and so on.

[ what a shock, andy is in the sunlight room. perhaps the more unusual thing is she isn't sleeping. she woke up from a particularly annoying dream and was bristling enough to grab her axe. ]
[ the trees aren't really real, so she doesn't feel as bad swinging it into them as she might have normally back home. climate change is infuriating, save the trees, don't cut them down unnecessarily! ]
[ her labrys is an extension of her arm. she swings seamlessly, cutting hard into the tree without stagger, without stumble. she spins it around and just slices through the air, frowning as she works more to get the tension out of the shoulders rather than any need to actually practice. ]
( it's easy for moiraine to forget that the sunlight room isn't really real, that the trees and flowers she admires for their beauty are some illusion.
she's been here a few times, seen many people walking through and enjoying their time though it's the first time she's seen someone training here. it shouldn't surprise her, certainly not after the mission they've recently come from, but really the surprise is masking something else: reminiscence. a feeling of home, of watching someone else she knows very well train )

( she waits until the woman's finished a swing before asking, not wanting to cause any of her own surprise )
[ being able to forget it's all technically an illusion - it's one of andy's favorite parts. the technology is wild to her, but she can appreciate the sun on her face, fake or otherwise. ]

[ despite the shift in this woman's face, andy's expression remains a little gentle. she can't understand life threatening the same way, but she does feel for that sort of camaraderie born of danger. ]

No. I was never trained, nor asked him to train me.
( moiraine could have over the years but with her channelling and his sword there never was a reason. and most chose not to threaten them with how imposing he could be on look alone )
I expect my need of him would be different if I were.

[ not that she can't do... nearly all the things her boys can do, but there's a reason they all have their areas, their expertise, why nicky tends to play sniper and andy takes the lead. ]
