It wasn't hard to charm him. He likes Clara already, and when Yzak likes anybody, all one has to do is ask him to join them. He'll put up a fuss if it's for something he considers silly, like, you know, anything fun, but this he doesn't consider as such. ]
It's not. Though I do know how pruning works. My mother has some flower gardens at our residence.

[Without waiting for him to answer, she glances his way with a smile. Of course he helps his mother. Silly of her to even bother asking.]
Good boy. [Any young man that helps his mother with something she loves is good in her book. And Yzak has always proven himself to be good, even with his little outbursts he can have sometimes.]
You must miss her, being here.

Truth be told, I know a hell of a lot more about flower language than I do beyond the basics of something like this. [ Different meanings in different cultures, the sort of thing Yzak likes reading about, so it's natural he was more drawn to that.
He looks down to the vegetable he's currently pulling up, silent for a few beats, thoughtful. He does miss her, it's clear in his expression. He misses her because he loves her, and yet ... well, things have always been the slightest bit tense between them, after the first war. Especially as of late. ]
I'll be back soon enough.

[It's what Clara takes that to mean. She pauses mid-pruning and picking vegetables, frowning a bit. Of course, being here is everyone's choice. But it's always hard to get close to others here and then eventually lose them. It's a part of life, and one that she'll have to become comfortable with. She plans on staying on the Ximilia for as long as absolutely possible.]

Not before I accomplish what I've set out to do, anyway! I'd never just cut and run on something so important!
I just meant that I'm sure we'll continue to make progress in recording the orbs at a steady rate like we have been.
no subject
[There she goes again, jumping to conclusions. Not really embarrassed by the fact she had, she just shrugs and resumes working.]
I wonder what will happen to us if there's ever a mission where we're not able to secure the orb. It seems unlikely our luck will stay steady forever.
no subject
[ As much faith as Yzak has in himself, and this team, even he isn't so optimistic to always assume that all of their missions will be successes. It'd be nice, of course, just not very likely. ]
I imagine we'll either remain somewhere until we've obtained an orb. Or, if we return to the station empty-handed, we'll eventually be expected to try again.

[clara's nose wrinkles up and she looks incredibly put out by the idea of having to try a mission again.]
It'd be like that movie with the groundhogs. Awful.
[Of course, she's forgotten Yzak is from a different world and Bill Murray's Groundhog Day doesn't exist there.]
no subject
With the groundhogs?
no subject
[Oh, right. She remembers now. Not everyone has been subjected to this low budget comedy.]
I'll have to see if Viveca can get her hands on the movie for us. It's absolutely ridiculous, but I'm sure it'll make you laugh. It's about a man that's stuck in a loop reliving the same day over and over again, until he's able to figure a way out.

The ends of his mouth dip a little and his tips his head, thoughtful. Vaguely, it reminds him a bit of Badrock, but he doesn't speak on the thought, not wishing to absolutely ruin the mood.
Instead, he gives her a small nod. ]
I guess. If there's time. [ As he always says, since he never assumes he'll have so much free time here. ]
no subject
[Clara agrees, her nod a little more firm and exaggerated. There's no such thing as free time, when you find enough chores to take on. and she figures Yzak will manage to find as many as possible to avoid having to deal with another movie.]
What did you do for entertainment back home? I'm guessing movies weren't a thing.
no subject
They were just never my go-to, and if I did want to watch one, I wasn't as keen to lean toward the more ... frivolous ones. [ Comedies, rom-coms, that sort of thing. ]
I was more interested in my studies when it came to my free time, and then my focus on the military.
But you know I enjoy playing chess! That's plenty entertaining. And outside of that, I do enjoy learning about different cultures and lores within them. Reading, music. And it's not as though I don't do the usual things others do for fun - traveling, going to a bar, or a festival.

[She's sure she can give him a bit of a challenge at least. The corner of one side of her mouth turns upward into a smile, a dimple forming on her cheek as she does.]
Do you think there'll be time for that?
no subject
In either case, I'm not the kind of person who goes easy on someone no matter their skill level. I wouldn't want that done for me!
And I'm sure there will be time, at some point. [ Wow so much easier for him to say that about chess instead of a movie. ] I've made it for plenty of others, before.
no subject
I'll hold you to that, then. After the next mission, if we're both in one piece, we'll meet in the mess hall for a few games. Best two out of three has to make the winner dinner?
[Her hand extends, ready to shake on bit of a friendly bet.]
no subject
But that sounds agreeable enough. And you're lucky that I can cook, too.
[ Two out of three? Ha! He thinks, they won't need to get to three, he'll sweep up the first two no problem! God, he's so awesome.
With a nod, Yzak puts his hand out to take Clara's and give it a shake. It is ON. ]
