01. Post-Mission (OPEN)
[ Yzak is TIRED after that mission. And not just from the emotional toll of a lot of his memories being broadcast like some kind of anime (THOUGH BOY THAT'S THERE AND THAT HAPPENED AND HE HATES IT). But because he had put forward some of his Charter Magic to help tempt the orb into coming with them. And not expecting such a drain nor experiencing it on a level like that before, his energy got zapped quite a bit.

He's fine! Just tired. So rather than take up a space in the infirmary (though he does drop by, because he's cautious and enjoys his good health, thank you) he heads to his room once he's in the clear. He pops out briefly for coffee, some food, to grab a book, but most of his time for the first couple of days after the mission are spent in his room resting, maybe even napping at a couple of points. If anyone wants to drop by and visit him in his room, they're more than free! ]


02. You Know (OPEN)
[ If one prefers a more awake, active Yzak to run into, be it to check in on him, talk about the mission, have a thought they want to share with him, he can always be found Being A Gundam Character Staring Out Into Space in one of the empty hallways of the station. The perfect "characters having a moment" place to be. ]


03. The Ultimate Ingredients For the Ultimate Cookies Made by the Ultimate Chef (OPEN - just before whenever the the Christmas party is)
[ A self-proclaimed man of many talents (accurately, since he can actually back it up), Yzak decides to offer some of them for the party. But Yzak Jule is extra. He is an extra man who wants to make sure everything he puts out on display is worthy and properly reflective of those talents.

Which is why he can be found in the kitchen with a whole lot of things spread out around him. For baking - cookies, specifically. It's a lot, but it's not chaotic, not messy - he's very meticulous about order and doing things correctly. He looks like he has a big project in mind from the various flavorings and types (sugar cookies? gingerbread? check, and more), but there are also a few cookies shaped and ready to bake placed to the side. They'll be familiar - because he's making things based off of the crew. Be it their cute little face on a cookie, or if they perhaps have a signature weapon/helmet/armor, it'll be that. Charter marks? Little Kaiju? Automail? A favorite animal? Something they said they liked or collected? Yzak is observant when it comes to his teammates, so this reflects that. And the style/decor on the cookies isn't anything fancy, but rather cute and very simplistic. ]

Hmmmh, this shouldn't be too difficult to finish in time.


04. Simulation Training (OPEN)
[ Yzak's a fast learner and a great student, so his time with learning Charter Magic from Sabriel has taught him a lot by now. He's pretty much mastered being able to quickly switch between conjuring a spell and needing to take a shot with his usual speed and deadly aim. Which is why today he's decided to focus on something different. Not using the magic to fight, but rather to survive and ensure he puts the right amount of energy into things. Putting his other skills to the test - and what better way for another character to join him on his mission if they're looking to hone something as well?

The scenarios will vary depending on what sort of survival is needed. A chilly, drab, damp cabin in the middle of nowhere in a dangerous snowstorm. That's going to test Yzak's use of fire magic - to stay warm, to light the way within a perilous snowstorm. Does your character also need to hone magic like that? Perhaps they want to work on their tracking to find food for the night, or wish to see if they can navigate their way to and from the cabin.

Is your character a mechanic? Maybe they need to fix a machine that's going to need some lightning magic to give it a jump start. Looking to work on your balance? Get on a tightrope and maybe Yzak can work on some wind magic to try and blow you off! Teamwork is the key here for this simulation, with the goal for both characters to work on something that isn't simply fighting. ]

[ not long after marta arrives, many of the patients within the infirmary have already begun to rouse and show better signs of recovery. most of her time there had thus been spent getting acquainted with the layout and set-up, taking advantage of the relative quiet to simply be familiar enough that if (when) things do start getting busy again, she won't be wasting anyone's time bumbling about.

other times are spent quieter, cradling a book she'd just picked up from the piles left by the supply drop, cracking it open by a bedside and quietly reading aloud to those left slumbering. she knows she's hardly their only visitors, but it seemed a good use of her time anyway. after all, it's not like she's got anything else to do.

because of that, marta's made herself sort of a regular face within the space. yzak seems to be one of the few who took their time their seriously, as opposed to begrudgingly, and so she doesn't feel too obtrusive speaking out when she sees him return with a book in hand. ]

Find anything good?

[coordination]

[ Yzak makes up for his taking things seriously by his crankiness for sure, because he's still pretty fussed about the whole thing, and on the heels of the mission, emotionally raw on top of drained. Marta probably got an earful from him, about how he's still learning Charter magic from Sabriel, and he wasn't expecting such a drain from the orb, because usually he shouldn't get like this as a Coordinator (which he will have explained to her - genetically enhanced, baby, and near vainfully proud of that).

But after the initial grumpiness, he calms down, because he wants to not be this tired as quickly as possible! And he's fine otherwise, so he wants to get back on track.

When he enters, he looks her way and raises an eyebrow, having overheard her reading aloud to whoever she was sitting nearest to. Almost like a parent would do for a child, he thinks.

But at her question, he holds up a book so she can see its cover. ]

Our supply drops have been pretty kind, in terms of quality.

[naloxone]

[ marta squints at the lettering over that worn cover, eventually humming with interest. ]

You'll have to tell me how that one is.

[ marta herself has had mixed luck rummaging through the drop piles, but that could have more to do with the fact she's made it a point to start from the oldest-looking one, feeling it's safe to assume she wouldn't be sniping anything of interest to anyone if it's already been sitting there for a while. ]

[coordination]

I will. You're ... interested in these sorts of stories?

I've already read a number of them - so I can give you a couple that I know are good.

[ But really, this nerd enjoys all of them. ]

I'll read anything once. But I have a soft spot for fairytales in particular.

[ it's okay, yzak, this is a safe space. to demonstrate, marta holds up the book she'd been pouring over — an illustrated guide on mythical beasts and creatures, categorized by culture. though they aren't of any culture marta's ever heard of on her earth, she can read each line of text with ease. (she'd probably be a lot more wary of these earpieces if they weren't so damn convenient.) ]

I'd appreciate any you're willing to part with.

[ The book she shows him seems to perk him up and catch his interest. ]

Maybe a trade, then, once you're done with that one.

I'm loaning out a few books anyway, so I might as well get something new to pass the time in the process.

[ the good fortune in finding another reading enthusiast pales slightly in the moment as something else yzak says catches her interest. marta tips her head to the side, brows lifting. ]

Work? Do you work here?

[ was he, perhaps, a volunteer like she was? ]

[coordination]

Here? No.

—I mean, not in an official capacity outside of what I offer to the team with my skillset. My very vast skillset! [ He adds with a good deal of pride in his voice. ] So I do offer a lot!

But, I mean my work back home. I'm clearly here for an important reason like the rest of you, however I'm also extremely busy back there. After fighting in two extremely destructive wars, there's plenty of work to be done to ensure we don't fall into a third.

[naloxone]

[ it's clear from the rise of her brows that she hadn't expected to hear anything about a war, much less two of them, and so casually too. ]

You... must work for your military, then? What do you read for that?

[ a lot of the books she's found have been fiction, but she wonders if there are others she might have just missed. ]

[coordination]

I'm a Major.

Though I'm not currently on the front lines, as there's a cease-fire in place between our military and that of the Earth Forces. And to ensure that stays in place, I'm doing what I can to aid our government and councils in our capital city where I can. I have some experience there already, but could always use more. Especially if I intend to advance my career in that area.

Books written by philosophers and economists, biographical and historical writings. My home city also specializes in aerospace engineering, so learning about that will prove useful, too.

We could always make the oven hotter to finish faster.

[Although Sabriel's tone makes it clear that it's a joke. She's busy helping mix up another batch of gingerbread dough, mixing in some spices.]

Do you want to decorate all the gingerbread men? Or should we leave some of them plain?

[coordination]

[ Just giving her a quick little LOOK at that joke. Hardy har, Sabriel. ]

We can leave some plain. The standard cookies I don't care as much about.

[ He seems much more focused on the personalized ones. ]

Some people don't like the icing and extra shit, anyway.

[bindsthedead]

[Just be glad she feels familiar enough to actually make jokes, Yzak.]

We could make a batch of fresh icing at the party, and let people decorate their own if they want.

[Although Sabriel agrees that icing can be overkill, some people are fond of it.]

That's a good idea...

You remember how to do that part? Baking takes a lot more precise measurements, so it can be fickle as all hell when it comes to turning out right.

[bindsthedead]

Mixing up icing, or the dough?

[Sabriel is, in fact, being precise with how much of each ingredient she's adding to what she's currently making.]

Right, you told me. It's like chemistry, that way.

[coordination]

Both.

We can do that, too, then. From what I've seen, [ Aka, Daisy and her popcorn stringing. ] the crew enjoys activities like that.

[calmness]

[space might be a place that still somewhat scares xichen with it's vastness, but he's very familiar with the task of standing somberly and staring ahead.

he does so often, though not on this deck. but there is a first time for everything.

he's surprised to find himself not alone, as he glances out at the vastness and then back at yzak.] Does it have an end? [it is said the heavens don't, but xichen's learned that this is not like the heaven's floating above the earth that he's learned of.]

[coordination]

[ Now that Yzak's rested, he's glad to be back on his feet and at the right energy level. So he doesn't seem to mind the company, in fact he feels like he has to make up for his lack of presence for the last couple of days. ]

Space? Studies on that kind of thing have ruled that it's unlikely.

[calmness]

[xichen frowns, brow furrowed as he looks back out at the vastness ahead of them.] Unlikely but not impossible?

It's hard to imagine there something without an end out here. The stories of our immortals and gods don't even make the Heavens seem limitless.

[coordination]

That sort of thing isn't my area of expertise by any means. But I would venture to guess the universe always expanding means there'll always be something new to learn about it. So that also means it can change just as easily as anything else. So, who knows?

[ He gives a small shrug. He usually doesn't get this existential. ]

What kind of stories are those?

[calmness]

[it's terrifying and comforting all the same. xichen nods slowly, glancing back at yzak.] I find comfort that change can happen just as easily, if that's the case.

[change is something he needs, after all.] The story of the Cowherd and the Weaver, for example. Do you have it where you're from?

[coordination]

[ !!

That question certainly seems to perk him up. ]

We do...! Bridge of magpies, right? That's a good one.

[calmness]

[he's always surprised, but pleasantly so, when anyone knows of aspects of his world.]

Yes, that is it. [he offers a warm smile, then tilts his head curiously.] Is it well known in your world? Are others?

[coordination]

I'd say pretty well known, and there are plenty. From all around the planet.

But, reading them is a specific hobby of mine, which is why I know that one so well.

[calmness]

What others do you have? [because it's interesting to know what works he considers modern to his times or recent are classics in others. or at least known.]

Ah -- Then I revise my question. Which is your favorite amongst those you've read? [he leans in a bit closer, genuinely curious as he turns toward yzak.]

[coordination]

I've read tons. Staying in the same sphere as that one ... I quite like the story of the Jade Rabbit. But it's hard to name a favorite.

[calmness]

Ah, another good tale.

[and then he realizes something that he can share with the other, if he's interested. ] I have recreated my home in one of simulation rooms. The programming includes our library and the books we kept there, if you would be interested in seeing them? [and xichen has read them all so the books should be filled with their proper contents, if he understands hows the simulation works correctly.]

[coordination]

[ He was already into this, but that offer sweetens it. ]

I would be, if you'd care to show it to me.

Where do you live, exactly?

[calmness]

I would be happy to. [given the other's enthusiasm, it feels wrong to deny him and xichen did offer first.]

A place called Cloud Recess. It is a compound in the mountains of Gusu, where the Lan Sect has lived since its founding.
