It happens one of two ways:
outside
When he sleeps, Blue's subconscious stretches itself outward, instinctively drawn to things familiar to itself: Feelings, imagery, names...bonds already made or half-formed. It's in a Mu's nature to connect in this way, to be linked in thought and emotion, and this happens even in sleeping. The universe he hails from lacks much of the color and diversity and freedoms of others', but there are common lived experiences to be tethered to, for better or worse.
Peril and pain, longing and loss, hope and harmony...while Blue reprocesses his own volume of them, he unconsciously seeks out meaning in those notions which might flicker throughout the station in minds other than his own.
That means a routine recollection or predictable dream comes with something new this time.
inside
The door swings both ways, for when Blue is asleep, he can't consciously keep it locked, can he? So those who have even a passing capability to perceive matters of the mind or heart, be it magic or something more, could find themselves drifting out of their own dreamspace and into his own, where pastel marble floors mold effortlessly with sheer metal surfaces dappled with clouds that shouldn't hold any weight, let alone a person's.
It's where the sky is no sky, but a gaping field of stars not unlike the view outside a station window...save for the massive, red planet crowning the horizon. Beyond it, a pale blue dot no bigger than what Earth's moon would be glimmers in the dark. A lyre's strings are plucked from some unseen place, filling the place as one would fill a vast, empty room, and Soldier Blue stands at the edge of the horizon in his old, familiar vestments and headgear, absorbed in...something...until the shuddering of the dream's veil prompts him to acknowledge the presence passing through.
Red eyes turn to fix on the interloper, unsure of what they are perceiving yet.
This is still simply a dream, after all.

Jomy... If you don't protect them, [he looks over.] who will? I gave you the title Soldier for a reason. [yet even as he says it, regret starts to creep in and darken the space, shifting it, compacting it into the narrow, steel confines of a different kind of space station than the one he and Finn now reside in outside of this dream. here alarms are blaring, the lights are oppressively bright, and the lengthy hallway leading to a central core is blocked by a tall, stern-faced man pointing his gun at them in defiance.
there's no preamble, no explanation - just the utterance of Type-Blue before a volley of bullets is fired.]

For a long moment, Finn is convinced that he's back on the Supremacy, Rose and DJ and BB-8 at his side with Phasma and troopers blocking their way.
But no, this is somewhere and someone else, and there isn't enough time to think beyond that. Finn jumps in front of Blue and holds out his hand, entirely on instinct despite never having done so before, intending to use the Force to stop the bullets.
Considering this is a dream, who knows if it could work. ]
no subject
[before Blue can stop him, he's moved to freeze the bullets.
and the shooter.
and the flames, the whole scene, save for the two of them. it staggers Blue with surprise.]
What...?!
[this isn't how it goes. Jomy was never here to--
wait.
this isn't...Jomy...]
...Finn...?
no subject
Finn carefully pulls his hand back barely an inch and looks at it before looking back at the frozen scene. They should- They should leave.
He's too scared to turn his back on this, lest it starts again. ]
Go!
no subject
slowly realizing:] I don't...have to... Because you can change it. Yourself.
no subject
Change what?
[ But the bullets and people are already gone, removed while his thoughts shift to some confusion. Then he remembers, right, he's probably dreaming.
It still doesn't make much sense. That's probably the point. ] Are you okay?
no subject
a beat after the question, he nods, still puzzling over Finn.]
Did you...mean to find me here? In my dream?
[he isn't unwelcome, of course, but it's...surprising. he's still human, after all; humans don't seem very interested in sharing subconscious spaces.]
no subject
Your dream? This is mine. [ Isn't it? ]
...
Isn't it?
no subject
I never...showed you what happened before I came to the station, did I? There would be no way for you to have...been dreaming about that.
no subject
Finn looks back to where the strangers were before looking back to Blue. ]
I'm not dreaming you, too? We're dreaming at the same time. [ Hoo boy. ]
no subject
Do users of your Force share dreams?
no subject
[ It's never come up in conversation. And it's not like he knows many of them, besides. ]
It's normal for you?
no subject
[as if on cue, there's a faint echo of a child yelling Hilllmannnnn!, followed by the image of a little girl diving at the leg of an elderly-looking man robed not unlike Blue is, reflected upon the metallic surface of the wall near them. headpats and assurances ensure and gradually fade without Blue acknowledging it directly.]
Most of the adults have more restraint, but it's not unusual for our minds to wander and check up on each other unconsciously.
When you live together for such a long time, I suppose...it can only be expected.
no subject
[ He doesn't really get it, not sure he really believes it (he's just dreaming all this, right?), but he'll take the explanation for now. ]
So... what does this mean? That you're comfortable here or-... [ That... they're close? Both? ]
no subject
I think it means the bond we forged is strong enough to leave the door open. [he tilts his head.] And it means you walked through it. And, perhaps, I may have called.
[his mouth quirks faintly.]
Even for Mu...there's still a lot of mysteries when it comes to minds and hearts.
no subject
After a long beat, Finn grows a smile and laughs. ]
Well, it doesn't feel like a bad thing.
[ He kind of likes it, not being totally alone in his own head. ]
no subject
You won't have to be alone again. [on any level, should he choose.]
no subject
Blue gets this side of him, so maybe that's why Finn doesn't jump to those anxious conclusions. Instead, he sees the possibilities. The... happiness. ]
Really?
no subject
At least then, neither of us will be alarmed, given our being here now.
[just kidding of course Finn will be alarmed.]
