When investigating the silent companions, he will find that they are made of a blend of metals with nothing special to the composition. Unfortunately, without direct access to the AGPD files for past deaths of the townspeople, there is little he can deduce when it comes to the identities of the silent companions.

When he starts to tear off the arm from the unsuspecting silent companion he is investigating, it quite simply breaks off, leaving him with a separate, metallic arm. The silent companion will remain in the position it was when the T-800 took it, despite missing one arm.
