Felix held out his hands in a placating manner as he stepped in front of Bracken's way. His tone took on an apologetic demeanor. "All right, you're right. I didn't mean any offense, I was just curious. Look, we're not even really interested in the weapons. It's just a means to an end. We're actually just here to- well, we need information- we're trying to-"
"We are looking for something very powerful." Yelena said suddenly, decisively.
Felix fixed Yelena with an incredulous look. "Why do people always blurt that sort of thing out?"
"What?" Yelena gave Felix a look in return and then shrugged nonchalantly. "You were sputtering."
"Wh-what? Sputter? Sputter? I do not- I don't sputter."
"You're sputtering right now."
"...Whatever." Felix turned his attention back to Bracken. "Okay, she's telling the truth. We're actually here to search for something much worse than these ghost matter weapons that the Federation are creating. It's powerful, it's dangerous, and like you--we'd rather it just disappear so it doesn't hurt anyone else like it's done countless times in the past. So if you've heard anything, if you're willing to extend that courtesy to a couple of fellow mercenaries just a little further... we'd be grateful. We could really use all the help we can get."
It wasn't a lie--it may not have been all of the truth but their group always had a penchant for helping the locals, so it wasn't actually false--and Felix made certain his tone conveyed just how desperate they were for an ally. Yelena, meanwhile, nodded in agreement and then added one last bit that might appeal to Bracken's better nature. After all, maybe it really would help this part of the galaxy out if the orb were to disappear.
"If it has been around a while it has probably already made a mess of things." Yelena shrugged casually. It was what it was. She had seen it many times, and it never changed. "Maybe, if this Complex is lucky, getting rid of it will help fix whatever trouble it probably caused."
