There's the briefest shadow of disappointment when Newt speaks of the matter being new territory to him, but it's quickly gone; instead, Kaeya nods, looking down at the sample, knowing exactly what it is he's seeing without the need to look into the microscope.
"Harvested straight from the atmosphere, yes. Those are all around us, here. Small enough to slip through any kind of a shield you might think to make, impossible to repel. Even here," she looks around them in the lab with a faint frown, "they're everywhere. Not that we'd notice it, you and I. Non-powered as we are." She smiles at him; clearly, she's done at least enough research to know that he's not registered.
"Let me present you with a hypothetical problem, Newt. To test your thinking. After all, that's a scientist's best asset. After that, I promise lunch is next." She reaches back for the slide, puts it back in its protective casing.
"If you had to try and destroy this sample... how would you do it?"
