CHARACTERS: Clara Oswald & Takeshi Kovacs
LOCATION: her room
DATE: shortly post mission, early November

[Things on the station have a habit of falling into cylilical routines. Missions come and go, some far longer and more traumatizing than others. But the orb falls into their hands and they're returned, and some much needed downtime gives way to yet another mission briefing. Having been here as long as she has, Clara has settled into a passive acceptance of the way things are. She goes on missions and lays low, not wanting to do anything that might get her hurt or into any trouble.
Not with how protective the Doctor can be when it comes to her, and not with knowing that Takeshi's changed his deal in order to save her. She feels an obligation to stay as intact as possible, which has led to her pulling back and away in recent months. It's more like she's going through the motions of seeming to be useful, almost hesitant to engage like she used to.
And maybe she can blame that on two men in her life having a duty of care toward her. But really, she knows that she's never fully dealt with some of the emotional trauma she's been dealt on past missions. Not looking to confront any of it now, she simply suppresses what she can't deal with and moves on.
As much as she knows Kovacs worries about her, she cares for and worries about him just the same. So after they've been back a day or so she sends him a quick voice message.

It's been a while since they've taken the time to talk, and she's thinking there's no better time than the present to try and slide back into her old routine. She's spent the past couple of hours reading over tea, curled up in bed. It's just like what she used to do when she first arrived, and it puts her in a good enough mood by the time she hears the telltale knock from Kovacs at her door.
Whether he's prepared himself or not, he promptly gets a hug the moment the door opens and Clara's tugged him inside. Any lingering awkwardness is long since gone and that's more than welcome on her end.]
Let me look you over. I need to see how much trouble you've been getting yourself into.
