[Newton recoils at the first moment of sound, teeth gritting, eyes clenching shut as a cry escapes them — but only for a moment. Because as effective as the sonic screwdriver is, the talisman in their hand is capable of truly wonderous things. As they hold it out in front of them, it suddenly collects the energy behind the device's assault, and within those critical seconds the timbre shifts —

And then a blast of energy, strong enough to throw the Doctor and Clara hard into the back wall of the car, suddenly bursts free from the front of Newton Geiszler. The talisman flickers back into a lightless existence as they cast a glower toward their enemies; they could launch a new attack, kill them right here and now with the gun they've at last retrieved from the floor...]

... Nice try, guys. Effective for a sec, I'll grant you that...

[But they're running out of time.

So with Clara's sonic snuck into their pocket and their phaser gripped in their hands, they turn and rush through the open door that leads to the front of the train cars. The door is locked behind them —

Ah, but the sonic screwdriver. What's it capable of again...?

For good measure, they yank the leather belt from the loops of their suit, threading it around the handle and cinching it nice and tight. It'll buy a few minutes, probably; that's really all they need to do what they've got to do. As they turn to go, they clamp a hand over their aching skull, panting from the swell of pain that needles into not Newton's just mind — but their own.]

... Hope to see you never, thanks.

[But they can feel it. Like a tightly wound fist unfurling its stiff fingers, Newt's consciousness is trying to dig its way out, use their disorientation to gain any semblance of control. They slap their hand angrily across their face like a man violently determined to stay awake.]

Don't even test us.

[Onward they march, leaving Clara and the Doctor to try and recuperate.
