Yamato keeps cutting through the waves of sand, and when a particularly large one — the last one, they hope — is coming at them, they crouch down and jump as high in the air as they can, all the while holding Zari.

"I think this is it!"

From high in the air as they are, currently suspended for the few seconds before they inevitably start falling again, the whales can be seen clearly, submerging slowly underneath the sand again.
