He's still quiet and careful as he makes it back to the front of the house, and thankfully the three Bouldersnakes are more focused on Finn than their own surroundings, so Jim manages to sneak up on them from behind with relative ease.
Just after that shot, there's a smoother sound of shots being fired, this time from Jim's own phaser. He's set it to kill, not wanting to take any chances, and he shoots at the one standing farther behind the others, hitting him square between the shoulders. ]
